An A Psychotherapy or Social Work Intern is similar to a Resident in a hospital or health clinic, in that they have completed their classroom training & are now applying that training in a real world practicum setting under the close supervision of a qualified & seasoned supervisor. Clients benefit from lower session fees, knowing that they are receiving the most recent therapy practices.
About Emma Huggett:
Emma is pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree at Yorkville University. She completed her undergraduate degree in the Psychology Honours program with a concentration in Developmental Science at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. She has worked extensively with children and youths with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as adults with moderate to severe social and cognitive limitations. Emma has also worked at a therapeutic equestrian center, helping clients with a range of mental health issues through the use of horses. Emma welcomes clients over the age of 17 who struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, familial conflicts, work stress, and various other issues. Emma’s approach to therapy is client-focused, integrative and culturally sensitive.
Emma is under the supervision of Hilary MacKenzie MSW RSW and Yorkville University. She is awaiting approval from the CRPO to receive her RP Qualifying status. She reviews sessions with Hilary each week to ensure safe and professional service. She charges a reduced fee based on what individual clients can afford.

About Laura Toppi
Laura is a Yorkville University student, working to complete her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree. She received her undergraduate degree in Human Relations from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. This past year, she has volunteered and continues to volunteer her time as a Crisis Responder at Kids Help Phone, supporting youth mental health. She also has experience working with adults who have mild cognitive and social limitations. She is happy to see clients aged 16 & over with anxiety, depression, life stresses, grief, & relationship issues, among others. She is LGBTQ+ friendly, & uses the pronouns she/her. Laura offers her services in both English & French.
Laura is under the supervision of Hilary MacKenzie MSW RSW, as well as Yorkville University. Her interaction with clients is reviewed with her supervisor on a weekly basis to ensure that clients are getting the best possible service. She charges a reduced fee based on what each client can afford to pay.
