About Hilary MacKenzie:
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for the Federal Government for many years. Following some life-altering experiences, I was inspired to return to school, & change my career. I graduated with distinction with a BA in Psychology from the University of Prince Edward Island, followed by an MSW from Wilfrid Laurier University. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers, & am a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
I bring lived experience of many issues to my work, as well as formal education & lifelong learning through ongoing professional development. I believe in being client centred, and collaborative. Each person is an individual, with unique issues & strengths, & therefore my approach is geared to each client's specific needs. I can help with a broad spectrum of both mental health issues, & situational problems, & specialise in emotional eating, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, stress management, relationship issues, & self-esteem, among others. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches to guide my clients to make their own decisions about how to live their best lives. They are listed under "Therapeutic Modalities." My practice is trauma informed, & LGBTQ+ allied. I work with individual adults aged 18+
