About Hilary MacKenzie
I believe in being client centred, and collaborative. Each person is an individual, with unique issues & strengths, & therefore my approach is geared to your specific needs. I can help with a broad spectrum of both mental health issues, & situational problems, & specialise mainly in emotional eating, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, stress management, & self-esteem, among others.
I sometimes bring my dog to the office to meet clients, as some people feel more comfortable with an animal presence.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for the Federal Government for many years. Following some life-changing experiences, I was inspired to return to school, & change my career. I graduated with distinction with a BA in Psychology from the University of Prince Edward Island, followed by an MSW from Wilfrid Laurier University. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers, & a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
About Laura Toppi
Laura is a Yorkville University student, working to complete her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree. She received her undergraduate degree in Human Relations from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. This past year, she has volunteered and continues to volunteer her time as a Crisis Responder at Kids Help Phone, supporting youth mental health. She also has experience working with adults who have mild cognitive and social limitations. She is happy to see clients with anxiety, depression, life stresses, & relationship issues, among others.
Laura will be under the supervision of Hilary MacKenzie as well as Yorkville University. She will be charging a reduced fee which can be discussed before the first appointment.
